Redemption of Aghasura and his pastlife details
Sri Narada says:- One day along with other cowherd boys Sri Hari went to a
delightful place near Kalindi mountain and was playing childish games. At that
time a huge demon named 'Aghasur' whose height was as long as one kos(a measure
of length) stood in their way. The demon stood there with his big mouth wide
open. From a distance, it looked as if a mountain was standing. Seeing him in
Vrindavan all the cowherd boys, playfully clapping their hands entered into the
open mouth of the demon along with calves. To save the boys, Sri Krishna along
with Balaram entered into the mouth of the demon. When the demon, who was in
the form of a snake swallowed the cowherd boys and the calves there was an
outcry among the Devatas but the demons were feeling happy. Then Sri Krishna,
inside the stomach of Aghasur began to enlarge His Divine form. Being choked by
this, the life of Aghasur exploded out of his head. King of Mithila! Sri
Krishna along with the boys and calves came out of the mouth of the snake. The
calves and the boys were lifeless, but Madhav brought them back to life with
the benevolence of His sight. The light of Aghasur's life merged with Sri
Krishna like lightning. At that time Devatas rained flowers. Listening to this
event from SriNarada, the king of Mithila Bahulashwa said thus.
The king says:- Godly Saint! Who was this demon in his earlier life, who
merged into Lord Sri Krishna? Oh! How surprising it is to merge with Sri
Krishna so quickly even though he was in the form of a demon.
Sri Narada says:- King! Shakhasur had a son, who was famous with the name 'Agha'.
When Agha was young he was so handsome that he was actually looking like a
second Kamadev. One day while he was going on Malayachal, he saw sage
'Ashtavakra' and started laughing derisively and said ' How ugly this man is!'.
Cursing that most wicked one, the sage said 'Ill-mannered one! you become a
snake because on the earth snakes are ugly and move in a crooked manner'. As
soon as he heard this, the demon lost all his pride and fell at the feet of the
sage pitifully. Looking at the demon in this condition, the sage was pleased
and said thus.
Ashtavakra said:- When Sri Krishna who is more handsome than crores of Kamadevas
enters your stomach, then you will be relieved of your snake form.
