Sri Krishna’s pastime with Viraja; Viraja takes the form of a river out of fear for Sri Radha; Her seven son are cursed to take the form seven oceans; Sridhama’s Amsha takes the form of Shankhachuda by the curse of Sri Radha.

Bahulashwa asks:- Noble minded Devarshi! You are supreme among preachers! Therefore, please tell me this; while the soul light of Aghasur and other demons entered Lord Sri Krishna, why did the effulgence from the soul of Shankhachud enter into Sridhama? Aho! The accounts of Sri Krishna is amazing!

Sri Narada says:- Noble-minded King! This is an event that occurred in the past in Golok, which was recounted to me by Lord Narayan. Listen to the auspicious account from me which will cleanse one's sins completely. Sri Hari has three consorts - Sri Radha, Vijaya (Viraja) and Bhudevi. Among these three, Sri Radha was the favorite of the Supreme Sri Krishna. One day Sri Krishna was taking a stroll in the gardens along with Viraja, who was very beautiful just like Sri Radha and had the glow of crores of moons put together. When Sri Radha heard from one of her Sakhi's that Sri Krishna was with one of His other consorts, she became extremely anguished. Saddened by this, Sri Radha ascended a chariot, which was 100 yojanas in length, 100 yojanas tall, which was decorated by crores of Ashwini stars and was glowing brightly as the sun, and which had crores of golden pinnacles decorated with precious gemstones and strands of pearls, with flags fluttering on their tops. She took 10 crores of Sakhis along with her and went to see Sri Hari. The mighty Sridhama was guarding the entrance of the garden at that time. Upon seeing him, Sri Radha chided him and had him struck by her Sakhis and became very eager to enter the Nikunj. Upon hearing the noise created by the Sakhis, Sri Hari disappeared from that place.

Fearing Sri Radha, Viraja took the form of a river and started flowing around Golokdham which is a crore yojanas in width. Just as the Earth is surrounded by oceans, Viraja surrounded the Golokdham in all directions. The many branches of the river, covered by a variety of gem-studded flowers started glowing like a cloth of silk. Upon seeing that Sri Hari had disappeared and Viraja had taken the form a river, Sri Radha returned to her Nikunj. Thereafter, Sri Krishna revived Viraja, who was in the form of a river. He returned Viraja back to her beautiful divine feminine form, adorned by beautiful robes and ornaments. Thereafter, He started performing Raas with Viraja in the Nikunj (gardens) of Vrindavan, which is present on the banks of river Viraja. By the effulgence of Krishna, Viraja delivered seven sons out of her womb. The seven toddlers began to beautify the Nikunj with their childish games. One day a fight started among the boys. The older children started hitting the younger ones. At that time, the pure Viraja, picked up her youngest child and began to comfort him. At the time, the Supreme Lord Sri Krishna disappeared from there. Disturbed by the separation from Sri Krishna, Viraja furiously cursed her youngest son thus. "Ill-minded one! You cause separation from Sri Krishna. Hence you become an ocean, from which no human will ever drink. Then she cursed her older children thus, "You all are very quarrelsome. Hence go to the Earth and remain there as oceans. You will all be permanently separated from one another. You will never be able to meet. Only during the time of annihilation, you will all meet.

Sri Narada says:- In this way, cursed by their mother, they all reached the Earth and entered into the cracks created by the wheels on the chariot of King Priyavrata. They became seven oceans filled with salt water, sugarcane juice, wine, ghee, curd, milk, and pure water. These oceans can never be depleted or crossed. It is very difficult to enter into them. They are very deep and starting at a length of one lakh yogaja, each one is progressively double the size of the previous one and resides in separate islands. Separated from her sons, Viraja became very depressed. Then Sri Krishna approached his beloved Viraja and blessed her thus. "Bheeru! You will never be separated from me and with your effulgence, you will always protect your children."

King of Videha! Thereafter, knowing Sri Radha's distressed state due to her separation from Him, Shyamsundar Sri Hari, Himself went to her Nikunj along with Sridhama. Upon seeing Sri Krishna at the door accompanied by His friend, Sri Radha became egoistic and spoke thus.

Sri Radha said:- Hari! Please go back to the same place where your new love resides. Viraja has become a river. Now you should begin to flow with her. Go and remain in her Kunj. What is your business here?

Sri Narada says:- Upon hearing this, the Lord went to the Nikunj of Viraja. At that time, Sri Krishna's friend Sridama, spoke angrily to Sri Radha.

Sridama said:-  Radhe! Sri Krishna is the Supreme Lord Himself! He is the ruler of infinite universes and the chief of Golokdham. The Supreme Sri Krishna can create crores of Shaktis (Manifestations of Energy) like you. How can you insult Him? Do not display this much ego! Do not do so!

Radha said:- You fool! You are praising the divine father and insulting the divine mother! Hence, you evil-minded one! Leave Golok and become a demon.

Sridama said:-  Auspicious one! Sri Krishna favors you and therefore you are displaying ego to this extent. Hence you will remain separated from Sri Krishna for a hundred years on the Earth plane. There is no doubt in this.

Sri Narada says:- In this way, cursing each other and frightened by the outcomes of their own actions, Sri Radha and Sridama became very distressed. At that time, Sri Krishna Himself arrived there.

Sri Bhagawan said:- Radhe! I can falsify my own words which are the Vedas themselves. However, I am incapable of falsifying the words of My devotees. Auspicious Radhika! Don't be sad. Listen to My words. Even during our separation, You will get My darshan every month. In Varaaha kalpa, in order to rid the burden of Mother Earth and to give darshan to devotees, I will descend along with you and remain on the Earth plane for a while. Sridama! You also listen to My words. A part of you will become a demon. In the Vaivasvata Manvantar, when you come to Raas-mandal and insult Me, then You will be slain be Me, there is not a doubt in this. Thereafter you will merge into your previous body by My grace.

Sri Narada says:- In this way, by the curse obtained, Sridama, who is a Maha-tapasvi (performer of intense penance) took birth in the house of Sudhan in the Yaksh-loka. He became the famous Yaksha, by the name Shankhachud and went into the service of Kubera. This is the reason why the effulgence from the soul of Shankhachud merged into Sridama.

Lord Sri Krishna is Atma-Ram(one who is blissful within the self). He is the one and only, second to none, Supreme Lord. He carries out various activities as Leelas in His own abode. The one who is the Lord of all, who is all-pervading and all-inclusive, and who is the Supreme, for Him, these activities are not unusual. I bow down to that Sri Krishnachandra.

King of Videha! I have recounted this enchanting Vrindavan Khaanda in front of you. The one, who listens to this is the best among men and that good-fortuned one is sure to attain the Supreme abode
