Maidens of Kosala province reincarnate as Gopis in Vraj and practice single-minded loving devotion towards Sri Krishna

Sri Narada says:- Lord of Mithila! Now listen to the episode about the Gopikas from Kosala region. This nectar of Sri Krishna's history will destroy all sins and is sacramental. Girls from Kosala region, by the grace of Sri Ramachandra were born in the houses of nine 'Upanandas' and were married to Gopas. They were decorated with ornaments implanted with precious gems. Their radiance was similar to that of a full Moon. They were endowed with youthfulness. Their movements were akin to that of a swan and their eyes were as broad as a fully blossomed lotus. They conducted themselves with Jaara-Dharma (Complete surrender) towards the attractive and the supreme Lord, the son of Nand, Sri Krishna with great righteousness and determination.

In the lanes of Vraj, Madhav was always being playful with them by tugging the edge of their saris. When the girls used to go out for selling curds instead of announcing "curds for sale, curds for sale" they would mistakenly shout "Krishna for sale, Krishna for sale". Being engrossed in their love for Sri Krishna, they were roaming around in Kunjmandal. They were seeing solely Sri Krishna everywhere - in the sky, breeze, fire, water, earth, stars, all directions, and the crowds of people also. All the characteristics of love were visible in them. Sri Krishna had stolen their hearts. All those girls of Vraj were full of all eight moral values.

Those brightly shining Gopikas were roaming around in the lanes of Vraj, filled with the happiness of seeing Sri Krishna. They had lost all senses and consciousness of their origin. At times, they ranted insanely, at times they became silent like inanimate objects, and at other times they behaved as if possessed by ghosts. They had sacrificed every fiber of shyness and thinking in this manner, they were obsessed with their wish of attaining Sri Krishna. Those gopikas would forcefully pull Sri Krishna and kiss His face. King! How can I describe their tenacity? Even the King of Serpents Sesha, with his thousand mouths, can not describe the determination of those Gopikas, who had given up all the worldly behavior and respectfulness and were loving ParaBrahman Vasudev with heart, soul, and body. Placing their arms on the shoulders of Sri Krishna in Raasakreeda, they had made Him their own with unflinching determination. Videharaj! The means of getting darshan used by those great souls, who by following of right doctrine, and those who are proficient in elements of nature, yoga sastra, and performing holy and pious deeds attain their goals, the same status can be attained true devotion.

The Supreme God Sri Hari can be attained only by devotion. Truly in this fact, the Gopis are always the greatest proof. They never practiced yoga sastra but still attained the form of Bhagawan with only love for Him.
