Introduction of Nandas, Upanandas and Vrishabhanus; Krishna's childhood pastime of eating mud and showing the universe in His mouth to Yashoda

Sri Narada says:- King of Mithila! Sri Krishna, who was very attractive with His eyes which were like freshly blossomed lotus and a dark complexion and as beautiful as a young moon, was going around stealing butter. He was stealing the minds of all the people and spreading wonderful brightness in Vraj. The Gopas who were called nine Nandas would catch hold of the son of Nand and take Him to their houses and seating him on their laps, would drink the sweetness of His lovely looks, by which they were enamored. They played ball games with him and looked after him. While enjoying this, they sang about his playful acts and with the ever-growing delight, they all forgot the whole world.

The King asked:- Godly Saint! Please tell me the names of these nine Upanandas. They were all very fortunate. Let me know about their previous births. Who were they earlier, who appeared on this earth? Along with the Upanandas, please also describe the good deeds of the six Vrishabhanus.

Sri Narada said:- Gaya, Vimal, Shreesh, Shreedhar, Mangalaayan, Mangal, Rangavalleesh, Rangoji, and Devanayak are the names of the "nine Nandas". They were born in Vraj's Gokul. Veethihotra, Agnibhuk, Saamba, Sreevara, Gopathi, Shrutha, Vrajesha, Paavana, and Shaantha are known as 'Upanandas'. And the six named Neethivith, Maargadh, Shukl, Pantga, Divyavaahan, and Gopesh are the 'Vrishabhanus', who came to life in Vraj. Those who were guarding the entrance of Sri Krishna's gardens at Golokdham, with canes in their hands, they became famous in Vraj with the name of 'Nine Nandas', with dark-hued bodies. Those who were looking after crores of cows that were there in the gardens at Golokdham, who were wearing feathers of peacocks and had flutes are known as 'Upanandas' here. Those who guard the six entrances to the garden hill, and who carried sticks and loops in their hands, all the six of them are known as "six Vrishbhanus' As per the wish of Sri Krishna all of them descended from Golok to this earth. Even the four-faced Brahma is incapable of describing His abilities, then how can I describe the good fortune of these men, on whose laps Sri Krishna sits and they sing the playfulness of Sri Krishna.

One day, on the banks of Yamuna, Krishna started eating sand. Seeing this the boys came to Yashoda and told her, "Oh! mother your son is eating sand". Balabhadra also confirmed this. Then the queen of Nanda caught hold of her son's hand. The son's eyes were filled with fear. Mother said thus

Yashoda asked:- Oh! great fool why did you eat sand? All the boys are telling and your elder brother, Balram also says "Mother! Even after telling him not to eat sand he never stopped eating sand. He likes to eat mud very much"

Sri Bhagawan said:- All these boys are lying. I never ate sand. If you doubt my words, see my mouth.

Sri Narada says:- King! When Gopi Yashoda opened the lovely mouth of the boy, she could see all the worlds, along with seven islands, seven oceans, Bharat, huge mountains, three universes including Brahmalok. She could also see the entire Vrajmandal including herself. Seeing this she closed her eyes and sat on the banks of Yamuna she thought "This son of mine is Sri Narayan Himself" Like this, she became very thoughtful. Then Sri Krishna by His Maya attracted her and began to laugh. Sri Yashoda's concentration was broken. She immediately forgot the grandeur of Sri Krishna that she had just seen.
