Garga Bhagavatham : Golok Khanda - Chapter 20
Sage Durvasa describes the Maya of the Lord and receives Darshan of the Lord in GolokDham; Nandanandan Stuti by Sage Durvasa.
Sri Narada says:- One day, the best among Munis, Druvaasa, came to Vraja Mandal to
take darshan of Lord Sri Krishna. He saw Sri Krishna up-close in a marshy area
filled with low-hanging branches of trees, on the banks of river Kalindi, near
Mahavana. The effulgent Lord Madana Gopala was playing various boyish games
such as wrestling etc. with his companions. He was looking extremely attractive
amidst all this. His body was covered with dust. Curly locks fell on his
forehead. Sage Durvasa was astonished to see Lord Sri Hari, running around with
other boys, while being very minimally clothed.
Sri Durvasa Muni thought:- Is this really the same Lord, who is the possessor of six types
of Aishwaryas (Divine qualities)? Why then would he be rolling in the mud with
the other boys? In my understanding, he is merely the son of Nanda, not the
Supreme Lord Sri Krishna!
Sri Narada says:- Oh King! While the sage, being lost in material thoughts, was
thinking thus, Sri Krishna Himself ran towards him and sat in his lap! In a
moment, he got up and left from the sage’s lap. Sri Krishna’s eyes appeared
like that of a lion cub. He began to smile sweetly and came close to the sage
once again. The breath of Sri Krishna drew the sage into His divine mouth.
Entering into the mouth of the Lord, Sage Durvasa witnessed a vast world, which
encompassed many forests and deserted places. Wandering in those forests, the
sage thought, “How did I come here?” Right then, a giant python swallowed him.
Upon entering the stomach of the python, the sage saw the entire Brahmaanda,
including the seven worlds and nether worlds. Wandering about in those islands,
the great sage reached a white mountain. On the mountain, he performed severe
penance and meditated on the Lord for a hundred crore years. Then it became
almost time for the terrible Naimittika pralaya (Total Annihilation) to occur
for the entire creation. The ocean started swallowing the land all around and
approached sage Durvasa. The sage was swept away in the ocean. He was not able
to find the end of the ocean. One thousand Yugas passed like this. Then the
sage drowned in the waters of the ocean. His memory power was completely
destroyed. Then he started wandering deep underwater. There he witnessed a
whole other universe. He entered the universe through one of the holes on its
surface and reached a divine creation. He began to roam about the worlds in the
upper layers of that universe for the entire lifetime of Lord Brahma. Upon
finding another hole in the walls of the universe and passed through it,
remembering Lord Sri Hari. He found himself outside that universe. There he saw
another endless ocean with many universes were floating about. When he observed
the waters with rapt attention, he was able to perceive the Viraja River. He
crossed the Viraja river and entered Golokdham. He was overjoyed to see
Vrindavan, Govardhan, and river Yamuna there. He entered into a Nikunja (divine
garden) and saw a Mandala (circle) which was as bright as a million suns. In
that Mandala, there was a thousand petal lotus, on which he saw the complete
Supreme Lord Sri Krishna, the beloved consort of Sri Radha, amidst countless
Gopas, Gopis, and divine cows. Along with the Lord Sri Hari, sage Durvasa was
also blessed with the darshan of Golok.
Sri Krishna began to smile
at him. Once again, sage Durvasa was drawn into the mouth of Sri Krishna by his
breath. When he came out that divine mouth, he once again saw Lord Sri Krishna
as the young son of Nanda, playing with his friends on the banks of river
Kalindi in the marshy land surrounded by low-lying branches of several trees.
When he saw Sri Krishna in this form in Mahavana, sage Durvasa immediately
realized that He was none other than the Supreme and Complete Lord Sri Krishna.
Sri Durvasa said:- Whose eyes are wide as the newly bloomed lotus petals, the
redness of whose lips make the redness of the Bimba fruit appear pale, whose
divine aura makes the dark-hued rain-bearing clouds appear pale in comparison,
who has a bewitchingly beautiful smile on His face, who has taken the form of
the child of Nanda, I bow down to You. Whose feet are adorned with jingling
anklets and whose arms are decorated with shiny bracelets, whose golden belt is
studded with beautiful gem-stones, who is wearing lovely necklaces, who sports
a black bindi (dot) on his forehead to ward off evil eyes, and who is engaged
in boyish pranks on the banks of river Kalindi, I bow down to that Supreme
Lord, Sri Hari. Whose face looks like a full moon and is surrounded by black
curly locks, which make the dark-hued clouds appear dull in comparison, and who
sports a slightly tilted crown on his forehead, I bow down again and again to
you, Lord Sri Krishna and your brother Balarama. Whoever reads this Nandanandan
stuti every morning, Sri Nandanandan Krishna will appear in front of their eyes
happily.

Sri Narada says:- Thus offering his prayers to Sri Krishna, Sage Durvasa, headed
towards his abode in Badarikashrama in the Himalayas, while constantly
meditating on the divine form of the Lord and constantly chanting his divine
names.
Sri Garga says:- Shaunak! In this way, the foremost sage of demigods, Narada
explained the pure history of Lord Krishna to the wise king Bahulashwa. Oh
realized one! I have explained the same to you. Singing the glories of the Lord
destroys the ill-effects of Kali and endows listeners will all the four
purusharthas of Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha. Now, what else do you want to
listen to?
Shaunak says:- Oh sage, who is blessed with a wealth of penance! After
this, what did King Bahulashwa ask Sage Narada, who is the embodiment of peace
and provider of divine knowledge? Please explain the same to me.
Sri Garga says:- Shaunak! After bowing down to Sage Narada, who is the epitome of
knowledge, King Bahulashwa, who was full of reverence, asked him further regarding
the life of Sri Krishna, who is the center of all auspiciousness.
King Bahulashwa asks:- My Lord! What other unusual leelas were performed by Lord Sri
Krishna, who is the embodiment of divine bliss? Kindly expound them to me. In
His past avatars, the Lord has performed many wonderful pastimes. In this
avatar as Sri Krishna, what other wonderful pastimes did the Lord perform?
Sri Narada says:- Oh King! You are full of goodness because you have asked
about the pastimes of the Lord, which brings auspiciousness. I will describe
all the divine pastimes of the Lord, which he performed in Vrindavan and which
enhance His glory. This Golok khanda is extremely confidential and exceptional.
In the Rasa mandala of Golok, Lord Sri Krishna has described this Himself. In
the Nikunja, Sri Krishna Himself explained this Sri Radhika and later Sri
Radhika Herself explained this to me. Now I have expounded it all to you. This
knowledge of the Golok Khanda is the best means to bestow everything. If a
Brahmin recites this, then he attains the knowledge of all scriptures. If a
Kshatriya listens to this, he becomes a powerful emperor. A Vaishya, who
listens to this becomes the master of immense wealth. A Shudra, who listens to
this, gets freed from all the bondages of the world. The one who reads this
without expecting any results becomes a Jeevan-Mukta (fully liberated person).
The one who recites this every day, with complete devotion, he attains the
Golokdham, which is beyond the material realm.
